Burnt Orange Rayon Crepe Evening Dress

Burnt Orange Rayon Crepe Evening Dress

This is a stunning bespoke 1930’s burnt orange evening dress. The predominant neckline of this dress is particularly stunning. Made by rolling the fabric into thick strings and sewing them in swirl patterns on netting, this decoration goes around the neck both in the front and the back in a subtle v formation that goes over the shoulders and dips into a point just above the bustline. The effect is extremely attractive giving the wearer an off-the-shoulder open neck-line while still being covered. The other extraordinary detail of this dress is the sleeves. The sleeves are elbow-length puff sleeves that that have been tucked under, puckered tightly and sewn onto an internal net sleeve.  The effect is a very full extravagant sleeve. The waist is an empire waist in a semi-circle on the front and on the back of the dress. This means that the waist line is very high in the centre of the dress and dips down on the sides. There are many pleats between the top of the empire waist and the neckline giving the top of the dress a very billowy feel. From the waistline, the dress falls long and flat to the floor. The dress is cut on the bias.
