Bespoke Evening Dress

Bespoke Evening Dress

This 1930s bespoke evening dress is nothing short of extraordinary. It is a burnt orange colour with gold threaded polka-dots and the lining, which is designed to be seen in many of its flounces, is fuchsia. The combination of these colours is outstanding. The front neckline of the dress is a square neck and it has wide, floaty epaulet/cap sleeves that are lined in the fuchsia acetate so that whenever you lift your arm, you can see the lining. The waist is a high waist which, then drops down into a straight deep v in the middle of the dress. On either side of the v, from the waist, over the hips, the dress has two large flares of fabric lined again with the fuchsia acetate which can be seen when walking or dancing in the dress. The bottom of the dress flare out like a mermaid and there is a slit up the front that allows for the fuchsia lining to be seen again. The back of the dress is cut as a low scoop and the fabric folds over on the back scoop into two collar-like details. At the centre of the back are 6 snaps that do up the dress. The waist is high in the back as well and also drops into a v in the centre with the two large flares of fabric still on either side. The bottom of the dress in the back fishtails out.

Label: None

Fabric: Burnt orange Rayon with gold threading, with fuchsia acetate lining.

Condition: Pre-loved. The middle, back seam, just below the 6 snaps has come loose. This is a VERY simple fix. Also, one snap has come off at the back. There are belt loops but no longer a belt. A simple black ribbon can be used as a substitute alternately, no belt is necessary. Lastly, the bottom of the fishtail is slightly dirty which is to be expected. Other than that, this dress is in amazing condition.

Measurements: 34" bust, 26" waist, 50" from the high waist to hemline.
