This gorgeous black satin evening dress is beautifully illustrative of the evening dresses popular around 1926-27. It has a v-neck trimmed in antique lace that also covers the back neckline in the shape of a peter pan collar. There is a little satin bow at the bottom of the v in the front. The sleeves are long and peg shaped and hit just above the wrist doing up with a single snap. The waist is a drop waist with an unfitted bodice. The skirt portion is two-tiered. There is the illusion of a self-fabric sash above the first tier of the skirt created by a flat panel of the fabric with a square of tightly woven satin in the centre of the dress immediately below the drop waistline. The fabric falls straight down the centre from this square, breaking the tiers. The top half the dress is lined with a white cotton camisole and the skirt portion is lined in silk.
